Week 7

In class we were figuring out how to print it big, as you could not get acitate paper in a3, so peter sugested we printed on film, so we did, we had to wait to the afternoon becasue the printer wasn't working and the tutor who knew how to fix it wasn't coming in till the afternoon, we decided on using bamboo istead of number 8 wire. while janick, simon and chad were fetching the bamboo me and tj were designing how we would put the maps and numbers together with the bamboo, and aly went to find some polysyrine to make the numbers out of. She couldn't so ended up printing them on a4 acitate

Images from starting the project, Janick and Chad had class, so me, Simon, TJ and Aly started putting it together. we decided on making the first half, and making each of the next 3 component and attaching them when we install it on the Friday before presentation.

After this afternoon filled of exciting productivity, we took the first letter of each and location and the number and put it age order and created this number, B1B3K8C7A7

On Thursday we were going to met up and get shirts with the number we created on it  sorted but that didn't end up happening due to circumstances. 

On Friday we set up the rest of the project here are the photos from the installation

I volunteered to get the shirts and do them in the weekend as I have spray paint, we were originally were going to get all white shirts but we couldn't find them at the warehouse they didn't have the sizes we need, so I had a look around town and found some at farmer's but different colours so I rang to see if the different colours would be alright so that's what happened here are photos of the shirts

Week 6

During this meeting we all printed out our maps, and found our co-ordiants

We came up with a Equation to condense the numbers down to 1 number

for example

Mine is 52.3667 + 4.9000 = 57.2667
             Then you take the answer and add each individual number
             5+7+2+6+6+7 = 33
             3+3 = 6
             so then my number is 6

Now what do we do with these components
     
the first idea to create a box with each map on a side of this box,
then chad came up with this idea
 

Each page is a map strung on number 8 wire with the numbers we came up with from the equation between each map. The wire goes from one end to the other.

Then from that this diagram was created

This is the same as above except for hanging from the ceiling and the wire makes a circle.

Week 5

Once we had gathered the questionnaires up we told Peter our plan, to create a video with every ones individual answers and handwriting. And because I volunteered to make the video Peter asked what else everyone else would do. I couldn't answer that because I didn't know at that time but now writing this they could be scanning and separating each question and answer in photoshop.
So peter explained that we need to do more processes for example he looked at TJs hat representing a rugby team, he related it with something else and found out that TJ isn't really a fan of the team on his hat and is just undercover. So we tried to compare things on the lists, the only things that could be related is that Aly and Simon's were both born on 24th July and the other one is that Barcelona is Alys dream destination, that Chad and Simon like queen, who sings a song called Barcelona. From these the connections we could make...

We started with

Aly being from Malaysia

Simon flew here in 2000 on Malaysian airlines

The Malaysian planes the went missing on 8 March and the plane that got shot down by Russian separatists on July 17 <--- this didn't really get us anywhere

Simon and Aly have the same birthday 24th July

Chad's Dad's birthday is 24th July

The queen opened up the commonwealth games on the 24th July

The queen has the same title as the singer Freddie Mercury

Freddie sings the song Barcelona which both Simon and Chad like

Which Barcelona is Alys fav dream destination

Barcelona is one of Chads favourite songs

Sarah's partner Rikki's favourite singer is Freddie/Queen

Simon has met the Queen at a pheasant shoot

TJ has shot pheasants

Chad had a pet pheasant

And Janick saw a pheasant at the zoo

Janicks aunty works at a zoo

And that's as far as we got then we had a break, I was talking to Peter about what we had come up with but instead of saying pheasant I said peasant thus being Simon met the queen at a peasant shoot. Peter corrected me and I felt so ashamed but that's what would of happened hundreds of years ago.

Once we came back from morning tea we were stumped and couldn't think of where to go next so Peter talked to us and wrote the main points we had on the white board which were

Barcelona is Alys dream location so we all came up with a dream destination, Peter showed us an example of using the co-ordinates to come up with a number. and that being our profile.

So because we have the dream location we decided on everyone bringing in an a3 map of there's and we may try and put them all together to create our own kingdoms. Or think of some idea or process to go with.

Week 4

For this meeting we had a new team member put into our group his name TJ, we brung him up to speed on what we have been doing which is just about nothing as we are just struggling extremely.

We wrote a list of 21 questions Aly wrote this on lined paper then we tried photocopying it but the lines weren't coming out so we ended up scanning it and printing it for each member of the team to fill out.

The idea with this was too scan each person's individual handwriting and make a video collage with this. Peter liked this idea at that stage. So we went home and were to complete this quiz by next class.

Week 3

What we found out about each other

Janicks - mum used to put ribbons in his hair, Metal is in his blood, goes to the speedway and is part of a pit crew

 -Ally is learning Spanish, grew up with christian beliefs

Chad pissed on by a cow, has problem solving skills

Simon- Son of military, is a firefighter


We were still having a bit of trouble with ideas at this stage. Peter (our tutor) came and talked with our group about different stuff like for example that each of us has smells like chad is a farm boy so cow poop and the chemicals they use to clean the milking station, and Alys smell is spices because shes from Malaysia with all the authentic food, and Simon smoke because he is firefighter. And mine isopropyl to clean computers and things. At the end of this session we had set the task of recording sounds from our lives and backgrounds. later in the week chad told us to take photos of our lives these are mine
